Calendar of Events JUNE 15-15, 2007 BACS Billfish Invitational Cabo San Lucas The BACS Billfish Invitational, started in 1999, is a two-day qualifying international fishing tournament for the Rolex/IGFA Offshore World Championship in Cabo San Lucas. This invitational event has no-limit entries and fees are approximately $1,500 USD. The International Game Fish Association (IGFA) is a non-profit group committed to the conservation of game fish and the promotion of responsible, ethical angling practices. (800) 752-3555. SEPTEMBER 15-16, 2007 Independence Day Cabo San Lucas Mexican Independence is celebrated every September 15th at 11 pm in cities and towns throughout Mexico. In Mexico City, the President rings the historic liberty bell at that hour as he waves the Mexican flag and shouts "Mexicanos, Viva Mexico." The crowd responds by singing the National Anthem. This practice is mirrored by the governor of each state throughout the country. A parade and civil ceremony is held on September 16, often followed by rodeos, bullfights and festivities.
