Each winter, gray whales migrate about 6,000 miles from the cold currents of the Bering Sea in Alaska to our waters off the Baja Peninsula. The Sea of Cortez provides calmer, warm waters perfect for birthing their calves. Be on the lookout for mothers and their calves as they grow and learn survival skills here before their long trek home.

What You’ll See
Watch the waters for signs of these gentle giants rising to the surface. Look for flukes, spouting water, or you may see them leaping out of the water, called breaching.
